St Peter’s students are high academic achievers.
Our school consistently obtains 90–100% pass rates in national and international examinations. In 2014 the St Peter’s pass rate for NCEA levels one, two, and three was 98%, 99%, and 94% respectively, with the national average pass rate being 84% across the three levels. Also for the International Baccalaureate, the 97% pass rate at St Peter’s was a full 18% higher than the national average.
St Peter’s, Cambridge offers students two academic qualification options. We offer the New Zealand national curriculum to students in Years 7–13 (ages 11–18). We are accredited to deliver this curriculum by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. In Year 11 all students study Level One of the National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA). In Year 12–13 students can choose to either continue studying NCEA Levels 2 and 3, or instead take the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme. Since IB is a two-year programme, students must start IB in Year 12 if they wish to take IB in Year 13. Read more about the NCEA and IB pathways by clicking the following links:
Students in Years 7–10 study seven core subjects — English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Health, and Religious Studies. They also select one or two optional subjects from a wide range of choices, including Art, Commerce, Dance, Drama, Equine, Fabric, French, Food, Graphics, Japanese, Music, and Sports Studies.
Students in Years 11–13 choose five or six subjects from a selection of up to 40 courses. Subject options vary depending on whether students select NCEA or IB. Please contact us if you would like to discuss the range of academic options on offer so that we can help your child make the most of the available opportunities.
