Caring for Your Child

Our goal for your child is that they are learning in a safe, friendly and supportive environment.

We do everything we can to ensure your child is well looked after while they are in our care. We know your child is entering a new culture a long way from home and family. To ensure your child adjusts well to life at St Peter’s, we have a team of experts who look after them from the moment they arrive in NZ until they return home. This team includes:

  • boarding house directors and matrons
  • homestay co-ordinator
  • international student manager
  • school counsellors
  • school nurse
  • academic deans

We have an orientation programme to help new international students understand St Peter’s. They also have regular meetings with a school counsellor to help with the transition process. Our school counsellors are friendly and experienced. They are available for your child to talk to about any questions or issues.

We encourage parents to stay in touch both with their children and with St Peter’s staff. You are always welcome to email or phone any members of your child's support team.

International students do not need a guardian in NZ. However, you must select a representative (parent, agent, or family friend) who speaks English and can act as a contact so that we can communicate well with you.
