Junior School Welcome

For our Prep School staff it is a pleasure and a privilege to see our students grow and flourish during their time at St Peter’s. As part of a larger secondary school we really do get to see who our students grow into.

We are a close-knit community. Our staff are dedicated to creating relationships with our students, helping them to learn, to care for themselves and others, and to be independent young people. We have a saying in the Prep School, “the St Peter’s way,” which is all about caring for each other, doing our best, having resilience, and having a positive attitude. Standards of behaviour are clear, and children find their fit in this family environment.

As a school that began over 80 years ago, we have some wonderful traditions. Prep ‘Flag Day’ is an absolute highlight, involving a day of competition, fun and a lot of mud! Our ethos of growing the body, mind and spirit is as relevant for young people today as it has always been.

Our stunning and innovative Prep School building provides our students with their own dedicated place within the wider secondary school. A large, versatile, open space, with individual homerooms allows for a variety of teaching and learning styles, which keeps learning engaging and allows us to cater for all student needs and abilities.

We work hard to ensure that our students have many opportunities — academic, sporting and cultural. This allows them to explore widely and discover what they are good at and what they enjoy. Our students feel confident to have a go, to take risks, and to extend themselves.
