Prep School
| |
| St Peter’s was established in 1936 as a Preparatory boarding school for boys. The special character and traditions of those times are still maintained with Flag Day, camps and the development of each student in Body, Mind, and Spirit. |

St Peter's Prep School, or intermediate school (Years 7 and 8) provides a smooth transition to the secondary school. The 'Preppies' have their own space, with home rooms, communal recreation room and activity areas, whilst still taking part in all the main School events such as swimming sports, athletics sports, house music competitions and assemblies.
Teachers with individual strengths work as a team to provide a whole learning environment for all Prep students. Emphasis is placed on the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, however a wide range of options allows students to explore new subjects, some of which they may then choose to follow in the secondary school. The crucial foundations of literacy and numeracy are addressed, alongside the innovations of the “Thinking School” approach.
There is one Chapel service a week reflecting the spiritual component of the school philosophy. Homework is given every night.
