St Peter’s is one of the largest boarding schools in New Zealand with 450 boarders. There are eight boarding houses.

Boarders have unrestricted use of the school grounds within the site boundaries. Many of the facilities are also available. Restrictions apply to male/female boarding houses and other out–of-bounds areas. These areas are well displayed and enforced.

- Work towards academic success, with supervised prep time being set every night.
- Be involved in a wide range of school activities as they are on site and easily accessible.
- Learn how to treat others fairly and with respect.
As boarding is a significant part of the school, there are a lot of resources allocated to the provision of quality houses and professional care for the students.
