Investing in Our Future; Honouring our Past

St Peter’s School Cambridge was founded on the vision and generosity of Mr. Arthur F.B Broadhurst 75 years ago. This forward thinking man established a preparatory school for boys, which focused on the education of body, mind and spirit.
Since then the School has grown and expanded its role in the New Zealand education system firstly extending the school to include a boys secondary school and then to include girls, both as day pupils and boarders. Starting with a roll of 48 in 1936 the school has grown to a roll of over 1040 students spread over boys and girls, day and boarding from Years 7 to 13 (Forms 1 to 7)
This growth in role and facilities has been made possible by the generosity initially of Arthur Broadhurst who funded the school development and more importantly by the ongoing generosity of Parents, Alumni and supporters of the school

St Peter’s School, Cambridge, has established for itself a significant niche within the New Zealand education scene.
What makes the modern St Peter’s distinctive and special?
- A co-educational secondary school for students from Years 7 to 13 (Forms 1 to 7) catering for boarders and day students, on one site.
- An independent school, with a value system based on Anglican Christian values.
- A school offering a genuinely holistic education, catering for Body, Mind and Spirit
- A place where innovation is embraced and tradition honoured.
- A spacious campus in a beautiful, park-like setting.

The success of St Peter’s school today is the direct result of the generosity and commitment of those who have gone before us.
To keep pace with the current roll and to provide quality facilities for future generations The St Peter’s Trust Board is committed to ongoing development to ensure the school continues to provide quality facilities for future generations of St Peter’s students.
This type of development and long term planning comes at a price. By securing financial investment for the future, the St Peter’s foundation aims to ensure that this vision of the school will not falter due to lack of endowment.
The importance of financial support for the school to achieve its objectives and remain an “Independent School” can not be over emphasised. A walk around the facilities will show that the future is being well provided for with thoughtful planning and development by the Trust Board.
As the School continues to develop its facilities and options, the Foundation will fill an important part in helping to secure the financial future for the School. The development to date has been by the generosity in time and money of past supporters. We are now looking to continue that support through present Parents, Alumni and Supporters of the School.
St Peter’s is now looking increasingly towards its “Family” for support. We are encouraging alumni, parents, and friends who have benefited from the education they have received from St Peter’s for themselves or their family to make financial contributions to help ensure it continues to have a successful future.
The St Peter’s School Foundation was established in 2000 and is a Registered Charitable Trust with the aim of providing opportunities for people to support St Peter’s through donations, sponsorships, bequests and other forms of planned gifts. As a charitable trust, donations to the Foundation qualify for a charitable gift taxation rebate.
The Foundation exists as a separate entity with its own Board and with its own Chairman, but is subject to the over-riding veto of the Trust Board of St Peter’s School.
The Foundation exists to ensure St Peter’s School will always remain an Independent School and to support and enhance the advancement of education at St Peter’s School. This may include:
- Financial support of teaching and other staff, for educational research projects, scholarships, bursaries, endowments, educational allowances and visits from academic specialists.
- The acquisition by the School of library books, works of art, educational plant and equipment of all kinds.
- Funding for the development of new teaching methods and the cultural environment of the School.
- Land or facilities or the acquisition, construction or maintenance of buildings used or to be used by the School.
- The building up of a capital fund as future proofing of St Peter’s continued independence.
