| 2011 Pukete Showjumping One Star Show |
The popularity show jumping is enjoying at present was evident when Pukete Show Jumping received 250 entries for their One Star Show held at St Peter’s School Equestrian Park on the weekend on January 29 & 30th.
Riders were most complimentary about the ground conditions at St Peter’s which continued to provide safe footing for the horses even after heavy rain fell all through the Friday night before the show.
33 classes catered for all levels of riders, horse and ponies, with both feature events being run on Sunday. The Pony Grand Prix sponsored by Coast to Coast Transport attracted 36 entries. Te Awamutu’s Melanie Weal riding 'Hopeful Illusion' had two impressive clear rounds to win this event.
The final event was the Cathay Pacific Horse Grand Prix with $1000 in prize money on offer. David Hatherley‘s beautifully built course produced just 3 clear rounds. After the jump off only Erin Clark (Opotiki) riding Reflector was still clear to take first prize from two local riders, Mathew Gilmour on Belize Di Cantero (Matangi) and former St Peter's Student Amy Collinson riding Gifted 2 (Cambridge) both of whom finished with 4 faults.

Lauren Tye to represent New Zealand versus Australia in April.
Jake Lambert has been nominated by ESNZ and Showjumping NZ for the 1st IOC Youth Olympic Games, to be held in Singapore in August 2010.
These nominations are made after taking into account competition performance (domestic and overseas) during the 2008-09 season. The 2010 Youth Olympic Games are a borrowed horse event and appropriate consideration has been taken of this important factor.
Jake’s nomination was the unanimous decision of the Showjumping Junior Selectors who have taken into account previously stated qualifying criteria as well as noting Jake’s previous international FEI experience, performance history and proven ability to perform consistently on different horses.
