Happy new year to you all.
We are back and all is ready to focus on our next stage. TRAINING - RACING
During the break, a number of you were busy taking advantage of the opportunities in front of you; Open water events, camps, sleeping in and more.
Our next stage is focused on our pace and race preparation. The National Age Groups and Open Championships are earlier this year and we are down to the crunch time were we need to be focused and putting in 100% during training sessions.
| Thursday, 20 December 2012 |
Well we are at the end of the year. Most of you are getting ready to have little break. However training continues. Please remember that I have sent your schedule for the next two weeks. Make sure that you are planning your training correctly.
I will see you all back Monday, 7 January at the start of our camp.
| Thursday,13 December 2012 |
Race time – this weekend and all of you will be put through a test once again. A couple of you in Australia and the rest back home in the Waikato.
We must learn to swim fast on demand which is important for your future. Take each race seriously and plan your recovery.
Over the week we have had again some challenging sets but one of them will stay in your mind for some time.
3x200 Free Kick – The goal is to have good squad of swimmers that are able to kick fast and correctly. We are really taking the challenge seriously and doing a great job with it. Remember any distance of kick is done without 2-3 strokes to the wall. Do not use your arms!
The first 2 swimmers in the academy have joined the 3.00 minute club
Sam Morrison 2.59min
Sam Perry 2.57min
Great job gentleman, I would hope to see many of you doing the same – without doubt you will have many opportunities.

Hope everyone who attended the Butterfly Clinic learnt some new tips. Chris has enjoyed the clinic and had good comments about many of you.
There is some hard work being done towards February so just make sure all your sets are done properly and you are challenging every swim. Our first time trial in the Summer season will be at Waikato long course champs 14th – 16th December. We will be focusing on performance at this meet. Be ready.
Camp information has been sent to you early this week. Please fill in the important documents.
An individual e-mail with holiday training times has been sent also. Please communicate with me about any time off that you are having.

The Skins event has been cancelled, however we will recreate our skins event on Saturday morning training session.
Chris Wright will be joining us for the session so it should be exciting.
Butterfly clinic- please make sure you are booked in. It will be a great learning curve.

The Exams are nearly over. Most of you are free to train hard already which is great. Also I hear that the exams were good for all of you. That is also great news.
The world already know that swimmers are the smartest people. Who else can do the set , count laps, count strokes, stay on pace, argue with the coach and all this is done while singing you favourite song.
Now let’s get to business. Sets need to be done and times need to be swum . Our next step will start in 3 weeks and we must be ready to approach the next step with confidence.
2 big events on front of us before preparation towards our camp which will be held in Rotorua from 7th – 11th January. The camp is shaping up to be great week of training and understanding of athlete preparation towards performance.
See you all at pool deck.
