This autumn, St Peter’s senior students will take you on a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming's children's book, and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find "Truly Scrumptious."

Year 13 student Felix Rowe, plays eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts who sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car has magical properties, including the ability to float and take flight. Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious, played by Year 13 Natasha Dickie, and batty Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.

Felix and Natasha are no strangers to the stage.  Felix from Year 7 and Natasha from Year 9, have played key roles in most of the school productions during their time at St Peter’s.  They were cast for the roles in 2019, when the school was working towards the 2020 production.  Due to the Covid lockdown, the production was postponed to 2021.  Fortunately, Natasha and Felix were still keen on their lead roles and have continued with rehearsals, preparing for the 7 May 2021 opening.

They describe the show as fun, quirky, whimsical and a journey.  Truly is fiercely independent but gives in to romance as the show progresses and Caractacus is very charismatic but a little goofy.  Felix and Natasha encourage anyone wanting to participate in a school production to “give it a go.  The support from the incredible St Peter’s performing arts team is so encouraging and knowledgeable.  We are so fortunate to be working with such incredible experience.”
