Music Students Try New Music Making Technologies

Wintec lecturers visit St Peter's

Dr Jeremy Mayall and Kent McPherson from Wintec have presented a workshop involving emerging performance technologies for our Music students.

Students look as on Kent McPherson and Dr Jeremy Mayall perform for them.

This was an opportunity for our students to experience first-hand how music can be created, manipulated and performed in a digital context.

The session allowed students to try out a range of these instruments, creating marimba sounds on drum pads through to vocoder effects on the keyboard.

The visit highlighted how powerful computers and iPads have become in music making. and how our students can become more directly involved in creating their own work.

It was a fantastic experience for our students and a great way for them to explore new ways of creating and playing music.

Our thanks to Wintec for this session.
