Student wins cycling series

Congratulations Jack Carswell, who is following his parents' footsteps in the cycling world.

The 14 year old won the B1 grade at the Te Awamutu Sports Cycling Club Summer Series, which covered a 26km course around Mt Kakepuku.

He completed it in just 38 minutes, 59 seconds.

He was racing against Olympians Raquel Sheath, Rushlee Buchanan, Bryony Botha and his father Tim Carswell, and beat them across the finish line.

Jack's mother Fiona is a former New Zealand representative, who competed at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

His father Tim won two bronze medals at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and competed in two Olympics - Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000.

Both parents are heavilty involved with cycling at St Peter’s School.
