The past 10 days have been the best in St Peter’s sporting history, with titles won across a number of codes, some for the first time. With the season interrupted by the covid lockdown restrictions, all teams have shown resilience and commitment to their respective codes, working hard to ensure their fitness and focus remained intact.
On Saturday 12 September, the St Peter’s 1st XV Rugby team played the final of the 2020 Central North Island (CNI) rugby season against St Paul’s Collegiate. Both teams played outstanding rugby to end the game in a draw 36-36. For the first time ever, St Peter’s will have their name on the trophy.
On the same weekend, the St Peter’s Equestrian team of Luca Swale, Grace Purdie, Tayla McDonald and Megan Bradley took out the Open Championship at the North Island Inter-Schools Dressage Competition
On Monday the St Peter’s Premier Netball girls won the Waikato Secondary School final against an unbeaten Hamilton Girls High School 29-25.
Then last weekend the Under 15 Rugby team won their final against Hamilton Boys High School 19-10. The 1st XI boys and girls football teams won their respective competitions with outstanding play and strength. The boys won against Hamilton Boy’s High School 4-2 and the girls against Rototuna High 3-0, to take out the trophies.
Not to be outdone, last Tuesday, the St Peter’s junior girls basketball team won the Waikato Secondary Schools Basketball League, by beating Hamilton Girls High School 54-52 in a nail-biting finish.
Tuesday this week, the 2nd XI Hockey Team won their Waikato competition beating Morrinsville 3-2.
Director of Sport, Te Aroha Keenan is thrilled with the results and credits her incredible coaches for their passion and commitment to their teams, bringing about this outcome.
