At St Peter’s, Cambridge Māori and Pasifika groups are thriving through supportive teachers and a sense of belonging with the wider school.
Ni sa bula, Kia orana, Mauri, Talofa lava, Malo e leilei, Fakaalofa lahi atu.
The Pasifika cultural group is where students from the many islands of Pasifika can come together in an informal supportive environment as part of an extended family. The group is also open to any student who wants to learn about Pasifika culture. The philosophy of this group is to build a sense of self-esteem, belonging, well-being and academic success. Through music, dance, language and other means, students are encouraged to share their different cultures with each other to build understanding, friendship and support. One form of being able to share their Pasifika culture with the school community is by performing in the annual International Cultural Assembly and other school events where deemed appropriate. Academic support and mentoring is another important aspect of the group to help each student be empowered and reach their full potential.
