Golf has been an academy sport at St Peter’s, Cambridge since 2005. Our Golf Academy has developed many New Zealand representative and tour players. Our course-like training facilities are widely regarded as the leading all-weather facilities in New Zealand. Our Golf Academy provides holistic, tailored programmes that develop expertise in all aspects of the game and pathways for students to excel as golfers.

Programme Structure

Our golf school is for students who would like to experience golf to see if they want to pursue it. Golf school students learn the basics of golf in a fun environment with a coach. The focus is on the fundamentals of the full swing, the four elements of the short game, course strategy and golf etiquette. There are a wide variety of options including individual lessons, group lessons, and holiday programs. The golf school development squad allows promising beginners to receive more coaching input with a view to joining the Golf Academy.

The Golf Academy is for students who aspire to play golf competitively and want to continue developing their skills. In each term our golf team builds competitive experience playing in regional or national competitions. Golf Academy players have unlimited access to the facilities, including training equipment and specialised technologies for swing analysis.

The participation programme is designed for beginner golfers to improve all aspects of technique and course strategy. Players at this level have group lessons with a coach.

The development programme is for players who have established the essential skills and have the potential and the desire to keep improving. Players at this level have individual lessons with a coach.

Our performance programme is for players who aspire to make a career in the game. Players at this level have two lessons per week with their coach.

Our elite programme caters for high performance players who are already members of New Zealand representative teams.
