Student Futures

At St Peter’s, Cambridge we recognise the importance of providing quality careers support for your child.

Through the curriculum, co-curricular involvement, and our pastoral care systems, we promote the development of essential skills, knowledge and attitudes needed for making sound career choices. This will enable students to navigate their career–life journey confidently.

The Student Futures Department is nestled within the Library and Information Centre, easily accessible to all students.  We have excellent Student Futures Consultants with a huge depth of experience and many useful resources to help your child make the best possible career choices as they look ahead to their next steps beyond secondary school.

Student Futures has excellent services, including:

  • individual guidance meetings with students and parents provided by our qualified career–life consultants
  • assistance with curriculum choices
  • weekly emails with up-to-date career information and opportunities for students
  • career management workshops for students on CV preparation, understanding tertiary options, preparing applications, interview skills, researching scholarships, etc
  • seminars for parents explaining the entry requirements for tertiary courses
  • a range of visits to, and presentations from, tertiary institutions, Industrial Training Organisations, Private Training Establishments, worksites and alumni
  • tertiary course planning and enrolment sessions from all New Zealand universities and local polytechs
  • promoting employment and scholarship opportunities, including access to a database for scholarships
  • vocational pathways offered, such as Wintec and BCITO.
