After a fantastic five days at National Age Group swimming in Napier over the school holidays, a team of five talented St Peter’s, Cambridge swimmers, represented the St Peter’s Swimming Club at the state-of-the-art Hawkes Bay Regional Aquatic Centre.

The Ladies' Relay team of Savanna, Milana, Alyssa and Alyssa surprised many in the 16 and over Relay 4 x 100 freestyle competitors, with Alyssa Lawson and Alyssa Tapper swimming above their age group and helping the team achieve the bronze medal. The girls came together as a group and swam with energy and team pride winning the bronze medal.

Another awesome water season alongside her surf lifesaving season successes.

Alyssa has been coached to a gold national standard programme time standard by St Peter’s, Cambridge swimming coach Ally Fitch. Ally is one of only three female coaches to coach an athlete to this level.

Milana Tapper showed her grit and determination throughout - not only showing wonderful support for her teammates but continuing to build herself back to full he

alth following some injuries – stepping up into finals as well, she had two top 10 finishes over the week.

Savanna Bourke showed her maturity and experience with her personal best swims across the meet. Returning to form following a back injury Savanna displayed her former strengths in the Butterfly as she also stepped up into two finals over the week.

Lucy Price overcame a tough prep period with a few winter illnesses providing her with some challenges to overcome but came away with a personal

best swim in the 50 Fly for 6th place in the final and another two lifetime best swims over the week.

Alyssa Tapper our Ironman queen over the meet with swims across all the long races and with her trademark smile and full-throttle effort to the end again stepped up and showed her mettle throughout.
