Hamilton Mayor Accepts Invitation

Hamilton Mayor accepts invitation to participate and officiate at Shefali and Shivani initiated event

New Hamilton Mayor, Andrew King, has accepted an invitation to a children’s group that includes St Peter’s luminaries, twin sisters Shefali and Shivani Sinha, to participate and officiate at a fun run/walk event to mobilise resources for Zimbabwe’s rural school on 25 February 2017.

Shefali and Shivani initiated the fun run/walk around Lake Rotoroa to support the Zimbabwe Rural Schools Library Trust which assists children in Zimbabwe to access reading material. The twins have this year decided to bring in other interested children in planning the event. The first team meeting held on 6 October 2016 agreed to invite the next Mayor of Hamilton to be a Guest of Honour.

Accepting the invitation through his PA, Mayor King said he would not only be Guest of Honour, but he would participate in the run itself. “The Mayor would be delighted to attend this event to deliver an opening speech, assist with the certificates and raffles, and to participate in the run itself”, wrote his PA Juliet Whale.

Shefali and Shivani are inviting other children interested in joining the team planning for the 25 February 2017 run.
