2019 Showcase 'Sing, Sing, Sing!'

The Musical Theatre Academy is unique and highly specialised, providing students with intensive vocational training outside of academic classes.

The academy programme includse more than 45 hours contact time with a variety of industry professionals covering essential topics like:
• the actor’s tool kit
• character development
• song preparation
• audition skills
• vocal development
• working with a conductor
• performance psychology
• musical theatre dance technique
• choreography
• exclusive master classes and more.

2020Showcase 'A Star is Born'

The programme is open to students from Year 10–13, with entry by audition. The aim of the programme is to offer places to those students who demonstrate that they will be able to take full advantage of the programme that the Academy is offering. This decision will be made on the basis of their performance through the audition process and other relevant information made available to the audition panel.

Prospective Academy students will be invited to attend an audition where they will be asked to perform:
• a monologue (to be chosen from the supplied list)
• a musical theatre song of applicant’s choice
• a choreographed sequence (taught in the audition).
Students are expected to fully commit to this high performance programme and attend all scheduled sessions.

The Musical Theatre Academy programme will run weekly sessions on Monday and Thursday after school during Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3 Throughout the year the Academy will be invited to perform at school events (Grandparents Day, Open Day, Stars), and small groups of outstanding students will be selected from within the group to perform solos. The programme concludes with a Showcase Performance of the year’s work in Term 3.
