At St Peter’s, Cambridge we offer an exceptional range of opportunities for learning.
Students benefit from learning opportunities across a breadth of fields. Our key learning areas are: English, Mathematics and Statistics, Sciences, Social Science and Commerce, Technology, Arts, Performing Arts, Languages, Physical Education, and Health. Within each of these learning areas students can choose from a variety of subjects. These subject options are listed at the end of this page.
At St Peter’s we offer two qualifications pathways. At the end of Year 11 students choose whether to continue with NCEA or undertake the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). Subject choices vary according to which qualification is chosen. NCEA offers a wide variety of subjects which allows students to narrow their focus and specialise in particular areas, or to keep options open by choosing a wide variety of subjects. The IB encourages a broad, well-rounded education and offers choices across learning areas on that basis. For more information about these two qualification pathways follow the links provided below:
Our teaching and learning programmes provide authentic learning opportunities. Students at St Peter’s have many opportunities to engage in real, contextualised learning. A variety of subjects provide opportunities for students to participate in field work; our Business and Enterprise Centre helps students who want to develop innovative entrepreneurial skills; our very own OwlFarm; a joint venture demonstration dairy farm between St Peter’s School and Lincoln University provides learning experiences for students interested in agribusiness. Whatever talents and interests your child has, there is a pathway to develop these further. Opportunity is the key, and at St Peter’s opportunity abounds.
St Peter’s is able to provide additional learning support. Our staff in the Enhanced Learning Centre are committed to providing specific, individualised support to ensure that learners with particular needs are able to thrive. Our Enhanced Learning Centre also provides students of outstanding ability with opportunities to excel.
We welcome students transferring from other schools. Students joining St Peter’s from other schools at any time of the year are accommodated to the best of our ability.
