Sports at St Peter's

With over 30 different sports on offer, from participation to high-performance development, we have opportunities for everyone at St Peter’s, Cambridge.

St Peter’s has a strong sporting culture, which reflects our body, mind and spirit ethos. There are pathways for students from participation level to high performance with an emphasis on positive experiences and excellence according to ability. We offer various individual and team sporting opportunities to meet students’ interests and talents. These include athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, cross-country running, track cycling, road cycling, mountain biking, duathlon, equestrian, football, golf, hockey, lacrosse, netball, rowing, rugby, small bore shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, touch, triathlon, volleyball and water polo.

Our sports people enjoy world-class facilities. These include gymnasiums, swimming pools, courts, turf, fields, tracks, an equestrian centre, a golf driving range, a boathouse at Lake Karapiro, and access to our national velodrome. These exceptional facilities allow St Peter’s to host regional and national teams such as the Chiefs (rugby), the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic (netball), the New Zealand Rugby Sevens teams, NZ Warriors, Triathlon NZ, Bike NZ, Waikato Hockey and even the All Blacks.

Dedicated people lead sport at St Peter’s. All sports are coordinated by highly experienced staff, specialist coaches and enthusiastic managers. At St Peter’s we encourage strong links with our families so parents' support and help is welcomed and encouraged across all the sporting codes.

St Peter’s nurtures high-performance sport. We have a strong track record of high-performing teams and individuals across a variety of codes. We have produced New Zealand representatives and elite athletes who compete at the highest levels while attending St Peter’s and continue to compete after leaving.
