Welcome to the International Department: Where the World meets St. Peter’s, Cambridge
From the bustling streets of China to the charming cafés of France, our International Department is a lively hub of culture, connection, and curiosity. With students hailing from China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and beyond, our international student community is a vibrant mix of languages, traditions, and global friendships.
Our students range from Year 7 to Year 13, and the group keeps growing every term. Whether it’s your first year or your final one, there’s always something exciting happening. Here is a brief snippet of what our international students have enjoyed to-date this year.
Every Thursday, the group gather for a shared morning tea to celebrate birthdays, cheer on achievements, and simply enjoy each other’s company. It’s a weekly dose of joy, laughter, and delicious snacks.
The internationals regularly head out to local restaurants to explore the tastes of the world, sampling everything from New Zealand classic Roats Dinners to spicy Thai curries to delicate Japanese sushi and comforting Chinese dishes. It’s exercising a culinary passport without leaving town.
Each term, we hit the road for unforgettable adventures and epic excursions across New Zealand:
Trip 1: Think flying foxes, axe throwing, archery, bushwalks and a giant water slide pure outdoor adrenaline.
Trip 2: We tackled the rapids at Wero Whitewater Park and plunged down a 6-metre waterfall. Somewhat outside comfort zones? Certainly. Brave? Absolutely!
Our next upcoming Trip: Excitement is building for the next trip; heading north to Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium, the legendary Weta Workshop and a quick shopping stop at the super-mall in Newmarket.
Our international students dive into everything St. Peter’s has to offer including sports teams, music groups, drama productions, and more. You’ll see our internationals shining on stage, scoring goals, and making waves in every corner of school life. Whether living in boarding, with homestays, or with relatives, our students bring energy, enthusiasm, and a rich range of cultural perspectives to the wider St. Peter’s community.
