This week at St. Peter’s, we celebrated our annual Spirit Week, and this year was extra special as we marked 90 incredible years of St. Peter’s.
From bubbles and bands to athletics and aspirations, the week was filled with energy, connection, and St. Peter’s spirit!
We kicked things off with Mindful Monday, focusing on wellbeing and connection. At morning tea, our prefects hosted a bubble station with the Preps, filling the air (and the Quad) with floating bubbles and big smiles. It was such a simple but joyful way to start off the day. At lunchtime, a calming yoga session, run by Mrs. Gibson gave everyone the chance to pause, stretch, and reset. In the middle of a busy term, it was the perfect way to calm our chaotic minds and start the week feeling refreshed.
Tuneful Tuesday turned up the volume! The Heads of Year 7, Head prefects and Mr. Cutler went all out in bright 80s outfits before leading an energetic Jump Jam session with the Year 7s. The music, the costumes, and the enthusiasm made it such a fun way to start the day. At lunchtime, talented student bands performed in the Quad, creating an awesome festival-like atmosphere, while a music quiz in the auditorium had students testing their knowledge and singing along.
Workout Wednesday brought out the competitive spirit with our annual Athletics Day. The fields were buzzing with house pride, determination, and encouragement as students gave their all in each event. It was fantastic to see such support from the sidelines and participation across all year levels. We also paused to truly celebrate our 90th birthday in true St. Peter’s style, with cake and confetti! It was a special moment to reflect on how far our school has come and to celebrate the community we are today.
Thoughtful Thursday focused on gratitude and togetherness. A Canvas of Thanks was set up outside the dining hall, where students and staff wrote heartfelt notes of gratitude. Watching the canvas fill up throughout the day was a powerful reminder of the kindness within our school. One of the most talked-about events was the challenge of how many people could fit into Mr Speedy’s office; an impressive 125 students squeezed in! At lunchtime, Kapa Haka and Pasifika groups performed in the Quad, sharing culture, pride, and incredible talent with the whole school.
We wrapped up the week with Future Friday, where students dressed as what they aspire to be. The creativity was outstanding, from Batman and golfers to aspiring cricketers and future professionals of all kinds. Winners will be announced on Monday. The Preps enjoyed a lolly scramble at morning tea, and throughout the week students also took part in colouring competitions, and the highly anticipated How Many Lollies in the Jar with winners to be revealed next week at assembly.
Spirit Week 2026 has truly captured the heart of St. Peter’s joyful, supportive, talented, and proud. What a way to celebrate 90 years!
