St Peter's Welcomes Olympic Cycling Coach Tim Carswell

Former Olympic cycling coach and Commonwealth Games medallist Tim Carswell has joined St Peter’s as our Head Coach of Cycling.

Tim is one of New Zealand’s most experienced cycling coaches, with over 30 years involvement in the sport.

As a cyclist he rode for 10 years internationally on the track and road and represented New Zealand at the Atlanta and Sydney Olympics as well as being a double Commonwealth Games medallist.

He first started coaching in 2001 and in his time with the New Zealand National programme and the World Cycling Centre (based in in Switzerland) he coached at three Olympic Games, three Commonwealth Games and multiple World Championships.

Athletes under Tim's guidance have won three Olympic medals and 16 World Championship medals.

He was Waikato Coach of the Year in 2015 and has previously been a finalist for the Halberg Coach of the Year awards.

In joining the Cycling Academy at St Peter’s, Tim says, “I'm impressed by the fantastic facilities and impressive talent at the school already. I'm looking forward to playing a part in making St Peter’s the strongest school in New Zealand for Road and Track Cycling."
