Growing Young Leaders

Year7 Leadership Workshops at St. Peter’s

This year, our Head Prefect team has been busy planting the seeds of leadership across year levels, starting with our Year 7 students. As part of the schools goal to encourage leadership throughout students, a series of workshops under the initiative "Growing Young Leaders" has been launched.

Each workshop explores a key theme of leadership, helping students build essential skills and confidence. Last term, the Head Students kicked off with “Responsibility”, where students learned about the power of being an upstander rather than a bystander. The team followed up with a session on “Difficult Conversations”, highlighting the importance of communication and courage in effective leadership.

These workshops aren’t just about discussion—they’re interactive and action-oriented. Students participate in activities designed to apply what they’ve learned, and each session ends with a “takeaway task” that encourages leadership in everyday school life. Last term’s task invited students to take part in lunch duty as a practical way to show responsibility.

Our Head Prefects have led these sessions with energy and empathy, and we’re proud of the impact they’re making. The group looks forward to seeing more workshops happen before the end of the year and hope this initiative continues to grow beyond their time at St. Peter’s.

A huge thank you to Mrs Carr for capturing some great moments during the Year 7 workshops—photos that reflect the enthusiasm and engagement of our young leaders in action.

Stay tuned as we continue to share updates and celebrate the leadership journey of our students!
