Netballers Compete At Auckland Points Tournament

The top three St Peter’s Netball teams were off on an early start on Wednesday morning to compete at the Auckland Secondary School Points tournament.

This tournament always brings the top Auckland secondary schools, as well as teams from around the Waikato region, together for shortened games.

All teams had five games, nine minutes each way, with a round off between games.

The tournament provides a great opportunity for our netballers to match themselves against the larger Auckland and Northland schools, learning to back up game after game with little rest.

All teams performed exceptionally well, with some consistent results and learnings from the day.

Our Premier team won four games in their pool against Carmel, Lynfield, Glendowie, and Rutherford with only one loss against St Kentigern.

The 10A team had a strong tournament with good wins in their section, making it through to the quarter finals before bowing out to Westlake Girls.

9A were competitive in their section, highlights being drawing with St Cutherbert and wins against Botany Downs and Avondale.

Lisa Mather (C) and Georgie Edgecombe (GD) contest the ball.

Ahi Williams (GK) and Sophie Waddell (GD) were effective on defence against Auckland Girls Grammar.

Megan Grayling (GS) and Ashley Maylor (GA) setting up for the ball.

Molly Simes (GA) has the ball in sight while Fran Pollock (GS) sets up for the pass.

Toha Kemp from 9A about to sink another goal against St Kentigern.
