Netball player makes national camp

2018 Head Girl Georgie Edgecombe has been named for the National Development Camp for netball.

The New Zealand Secondary School team and New Zealand Under 21 team may eventually be selected from this camp, so making the cut is a strong recoginition of her ability.

The camp will be held at our school over 5 days from January 19-23, and will host more than 60 athletes from around the country.

It is a selection of young, up and coming netball talent that aims to give athletes a clear indication of what is expected of them should they progress into the performance space, and what work they need to do in 2018.

The programme will provide the netball players with mental skills training, on and off court development, strength conditioning, nutrition planning, understanding of performance analysis and much more.

The event will also bring up to 9 umpires and 12 coaches together to work on their development.

Coaches will be separated into groups of two, head and apprentice. They will lead a team of 12 netball players, and provide support and structure for the athletes.

Netball New Zealand High Performance staff will be guiding the coaches throughout the week.
