Collaborating with Te Puke School

Junior Netball Academy

St Peter’s Junior Netball Academy hosted Te Puke Intermediate Netball Academy (Y7 and 8) students earlier this week, enabling staff and students from the two schools to observe and exchange ideas.

St Peter’s and Te Puke Year 7 & 8 students and staff enjoyed a fun and engaging skill session together

"Fresh off a strong eleventh place at AIMS Games, it was great to be able to share our knowledge and ideas with Te Puke Academy coach Helena Hoult" says St Peter’s Director of Netball Amigene Metcalfe.

"Te Puke students firstly observed the Year 9 Academy class working on skills and also their mental toughness strategy, which is the current unit topic.

"After class, they went on a tour of St Peter’s and enjoyed a cooked lunch in the dining room. This was a real treat for them and a reminder to us of how lucky we are to have this every day!"

The visitors then joined the Year 7 & 8 Academy class for a coaching session with St Peter’s staff Mrs Metcalfe and Ms Russek, along with Mrs Hoult. All three are experienced players and coaches at representative level.

"The integrated coaching session was a great finish to the day" concludes Amigene.

"The girls enjoyed lots of excited conversation and shared team work. It was great to see plenty of encouragement between the schools.

"We look forward to growing our relationship with Te Puke in the future."
