U15s take Waikato title

The winning U15 St Peter’s rugby team.

It was a spectacle for rugby in the final of the Waikato U15 championship against Hamilton Boys' High School, held at St Peter’s on Saturday 20 August.

The two teams were both eager to assert dominance in the final after meeting prior on two occasions during the regular season. St Peter’s was enthusiastic and physical in defence and showed composure and flair on the attack to score the opening points after 6 minutes (Izzy Kamana).

This set the team up for the entire game with the young men working hard for each other which resulted in a comprehensive and dominant display of rugby. The final score was 42 - 8, with special mention to Izzy Kamana, Marco Milne, Anton Drnasin, Henry Smith and the man of the match performance Carter Taylor.

Special thanks must go to all the parents and supporters who encouraged the team and helped lift the team on many occasions. These young men will certainly make up the 1st XV in the years to come.
